re-cycling and post office
Posted by Barbara Driver, district councillor for Lansdown, at 08:33, Friday 22 February:
I am pushing the council to do more to enable those in multi occupancy housing to do more recycling, and indeed help with dealing ith their rubbish in general. I am asking for more re-cycling bins to be positioned neared to where people live. I would welcome any suggestions you have on what is needed and how we can help.
I have been to a meeting with WHSmiths to see how they can improve their services to the pubic when they instal the post office in their shop. Not only is this a bad move it will be situated right at the back of the second floor.....a terrible position for those people who are disabled and those Mums with children and a push chair. They will not consider any other position so we (I was there with the disability forum) asked for the layout of the down stairs to be re-positioned so that there is a clear space for people to get to the lift. Also a bell at the front door (with a chair io position)too summon help.
I hold a surgery for residents to come and speak with me on any subject (pros and cons) on the first Saturday of the Month at St Andrews Church, Monpellier from 10.30 - 11.30. The next being on March 1st. Please help me to help you by getting in touch. Cllr.barbara.driver@cheltenham.gov.uk

I heard on the news that some Councils are considering moving post offices in to Council buildings such as libraries. Is this something which has been considered as an option here?

I did hear on the news that a Council in Essex are doing this, but CBC have not discussed it. The running of the library comes under the Gloucestershire County Council so I will get in touch with them and ask the question. I think it a good idea myself as something needs to be done. I wonder why they are not in supermarkets.
